Fusion FC and Vancouver FC Members Support Amalagamation

By Fusion FC

Joint statement from both Fusion FC and Vancouver FC

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, Fusion FC and Vancouver FC each held respective Special General Meetings (SGMs) regarding the proposed amalgamation of the two clubs.  After much discussion, both the Fusion FC membership and the Vancouver FC membership voted strongly in support of the amalgamation.

We thank all members who attended the meetings and for the thoughtful questions and discussion.

The next steps will see the Vancouver FC’s Board and Fusion FC’s Board finalize the Amalgamation Agreement to combine the two clubs into Fusion FC. Further announcements will follow in the new year.

With Fusion FC holding a Canada Soccer National Youth Club Licence, this move is in line with Canada Soccer’s strategy to have a clear player development pathway within the club. We are excited about the upcoming changes and the positive impact it will have on our players, families and coaches. We remain committed to providing youth soccer players with an integrated system of assessment as well as a high-performance training and game-play environment.

Additional bylaw updates passed at the Fusion FC Special General Meeting

Two additional special resolutions regarding changes to the Fusion FC Bylaws were also carried. Those amendments were (a) expansion of the definition of “Team” to include a team registered in both the BCSPL and/or the BC Coastal Soccer League, and (b) removal of the reference to nominations of Board members from the floor and inclusion of reference to a process of application through a Nominating Committee.

Please see the notice of SGM for the full language of all resolutions considered and carried.
