Q: Congratulations on coming back off an injury and scoring a hat-trick against the Okanagan. How did that feel? Which one of the goals was your favorite?
A: Thank you! Of course it’s never easy when recovering from an injury. Last June, I tore my meniscus while playing soccer and it has been a difficult and slow return. Scoring a hat-trick against the Okanagan made me very happy and proud – as if my injury was no longer holding me back. Although each goal was special in it’s own way, I would have to say that my second goal was my favourite. I received the ball in the air, controlled it on my chest, turned and volleyed it into the top right corner of the net!
Q: What do you love most about playing soccer?
A: There are many reasons why I love playing soccer. For one, it is a game of mental focus. You have to be able to think on your feet and react quickly to any situation – the game is constantly changing and you need to change with it.
Another reason why I love soccer is because it takes a lot of team effort. If one person doesn’t give 110% your whole team is at a loss. There is no I in team and that was the first thing I learned during my soccer career. Team effort is what I love, because you have to work with your team and communicate with every one to take the ball up the field and score. Throughout my years with Fusion, I have been lucky enough to be a part of such a supportive and hardworking team!
Q: Who is your pick to win the Champion’s League this year?
A: Real Madrid
Q: Who has had the most impact on your soccer career to date?
A: Throughout my soccer career, I have had the opportunity to work with many different coaches who have helped me learn different aspects of the game. My teammates have also had an impact on my soccer career. They have always pushed me to be better and have helped me grow my passion for the game. And of course my parents. Without their ongoing support, I wouldn’t have been able to play at this level.
Q: What are some of your goals for the rest of the season?
A: Continue to improve as a player, be a leader, work hard in every game and practice, and try to score!
