Fusion Spring Soccer Program Overview (U11-U18)

Fusion FC is excited to have your child join our U11-U18 Spring Teams!

Experienced coaches lead our program and focus on fundamental skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control, all while fostering a love for the game.

Program Structure:

  • Age Group Division:

    • U11-U18 (2014-2007 born players)

  • Level of Play
    • Div. 1 – full time professional coach

    • Div. 2/3 – professional coach one training session per week with volunteer coach for the other session

    • **Players are invited to register for the division they wish.  However, Fusion FC reserves the right to move players to an alternate division if the Technical Staff see a better fit for the player in a different division than the one the player registered for.  If the player is moved to a different division, program pricing will be adjusted to the division they are placed in**

  • Duration:

    • Season Length: 11 weeks, March 31-June 13 

    • Training Sessions: 2 times per week (typically 1.25 hours per session).

    • Games: Typically, one game per weekend (Saturday or Sunday)

    • Tournaments are optional and will be determined on a team-by-team basis based on player interest and availability.  Fusion recommended Spring tournaments are:

    • May: Coastal FC Spring Classic (local)

    • June: Starfire Spring Cup (travel)

  • Coaching Philosophy:

    • Age-appropriate coaching methods that allow kids to develop at their own pace.

    • Encourage creativity and problem-solving on the field.

    • Provide regular feedback to players, keeping it positive and constructive.

  • Fees:

  • Div. 1
    • $600 (early bird pricing, until Feb 28, 2025)

    • $650 (regular pricing, from March 1, 2025 on)

  • Div. 2/3 

    • $450 (early bird pricing, until Feb 28, 2025)

    • $500 (regular pricing, from March 1, 2025 on)

  • Kit is an additional $75 for any players who did not play during the 2024/25 Fall/Winter Season.

At this time, Fusion is planning to run Spring programming on the above days, however program days of the week are subject to change based on final field permits and registration numbers.  Thank you for your understanding.

Program Goals:

  • Skill Development: Focus on technical skills like passing, dribbling, shooting, and ball control.
  • Game Understanding: Teach the fundamentals of positioning, teamwork, and game tactics.
  • Physical Conditioning: Develop endurance, agility, and coordination through drills and small-sided games.
  • Sportsmanship and Character Building: Emphasize respect for coaches, teammates, and opponents, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Fun & Enjoyment: Make sure soccer remains fun and exciting, fostering a lifelong passion for the sport.

Training Focus Areas:

  1. Technical Skills: 
    • Dribbling: Close control, change of pace, and direction.
    • Passing & Receiving: Short- and long-range passing, using both feet and receiving under pressure.
    • Shooting: Different types of shots (instep, volleys, and chips) and accuracy.
    • Ball Control: Juggling, first touch, and playing the ball under pressure.
  2. Tactical Understanding:
    • Positioning: Importance of space and positioning, both offensively and defensively.
    • Movement Off the Ball: Making runs, timing, and creating passing lanes.
    • Defensive Concepts: Marking, positioning, and 1v1 defending.
    • Transition Play: Switching from defence to attack and vice versa.
  3. Small-Sided Games:
    • Emphasize 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5 games for tactical learning in small spaces.
    • Use scrimmages to reinforce concepts from practice.
  4. Physical Conditioning:
    • Agility Drills: Ladder drills, cone weaving, and quick footwork exercises.
    • Endurance: Short sprints, interval training, and fitness games that incorporate soccer elements.
    • Strength & Balance: Bodyweight exercises to improve balance, core strength, and coordination.
  5. Goalkeeping (Optional):
    • For players interested in the goalkeeper position, include sessions on shot-stopping, positioning, and distribution.
